Adjacent to the owners’ home yet offering a good degree of seclusion, this spacious cottage is set in a tranquil position on the banks of the River Wriggle and is ideally situated for exploring the much photographed Jurassic Coast, as well as the beautiful countryside of both Dorset and Somerset. Conveniently positioned on the edge of the pretty village of Chetnole, you will find a popular pub nearby and a useful convenience store a short drive away. This picturesque area has an abundance of pretty towns and villages to explore including the charming market town of Sherborne, which has an historic abbey, two castles, as well as quaint streets lined with boutique shops and artisan eateries. 

A shared drive leads you to the private entrance which has a step up to the front door. Once inside the cottage you are met by a spacious hallway that leads firstly to the twin bedroom, which is a peaceful spot overlooking the garden. You will also find a separate WC. Heading on from here is the bright and airy lounge, which has a warming wood burner (first basket of logs included, further logs available to purchase from the owner), TV/DVD and a Juliet balcony which looks out over the garden and gives glimpses of the river beyond. Moving along the hallway you will find the contemporary bathroom, with shower over bath and WC as well as a further king-size bedroom. The spacious kitchen/diner is well-equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge/freezer and is the ideal place to relax with the family as it also has a TV. There is also a utility area which has a dishwasher, washing machine and door leading to the terrace and garden.

Once outside you will find a sunny terrace overlooking part of the owners’ garden and offering lovely views of the river. You can enjoy this tranquil spot whilst using the garden furniture and BBQ supplied, located directly outside of the kitchen/diner, it’s the perfect spot for enjoying drinks or a meal outdoors. Steps lead down to a second fully enclosed garden area, with lawn and pretty flower beds. Heading back to the front of the property is an off-road parking space for one car.

Spacious well equipped. Many public footpaths and quiet lanes surround cottage. Owners very helpful and never intrusive. Ideal for true countryside break.

The cottage is spacious, the double bed really comfy. The cottage is in a very rural setting with good walks on the doorstep with the dog. Also enclosed garden, a must for our crazy mutt. We visited Yeovil for a woodland hill walk, and 3 beaches, West beach, Weymouth and Lyme Regis, dog loved it. Great fish and chips at small hut, (the blue one) inRead more West bay. Lyme bit more interesting, with shops and plenty of places for food. All beaches were easily accessible and no more than an hour's drive. Hide

A lovely cottage in a beautiful position, well equipped & comfortable. We appreciated the endless hot water & very efficient heating, as it turned unseasonably cool during our stay. James & Louise were perfect hosts - on hand & helpful if you needed them but never intrusive. We particularly appreciated James' enthusiasm for & knowledge of the localRead more fauna. A beautifully situated cottage, in the rural downland of Dorset, with plenty of wildlife. Kingfishers, otters, dragon flies of every radiant colour and butterflies. The cottage is fully equipped and there are good suggestions for local walks. We highly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay

Great week at this lovely cottage. Had everything we needed including a secure garden for our 2 dogs. We saw deer in the field opposite and lots of squirrels in the garden! The weather was kind to us so we made the most of our NT membership. Montacute house, Barrington Court and Kingston Lacy - all dog friendly with lovely shop/cafe. James and LouiRead morese were great hosts. There if we needed them but not intrusive. Would stay again if we visit this area of Dorset in the future Hide

We had a lovely stay, owners are very welcoming but give you your privacy. This property is very clean, comfortable and very well stocked with necessities. Its located in a lovely tranquil village with easy access to other parts of Dorset.

A quiet, peaceful and pleasant location, with lovely views of the river. The owners were friendly and helpful and seemed appreciative of a couple of comments we made whilst there. Although the cottage looks a little tired in places, it is mainly well equipped. The present settee and two armchairs are comfortable, as are the beds. The kitchen is a gRead moreood size, with separate utility room and a good sized dining area at one end. The extra toilet was much appreciated. Would recommend and return. Hide

We've stayed at this cottage three times now, and would happily return. It has a lovely aspect overlooking the river and fields, and a log burner in the lounge. The property is always warm in winter. Plenty of space for a family, and lots of DVDs, books and games are provided. The kitchen is equipped well enough to cook for yourself, but there's a Read moregreat pub at the other end of the village which has good food from 6.30pm. Plenty of places to visit nearby, especially a cream tea at Summer Lodge. Hide

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, nice and relaxing. Saw deer both in the field across the river and in the garden. Really cosy with the log fire. Spacious accommodation, and we enjoyed use of the zip wire and swing in the woods.

The cottage was large and all on one level.The dogs could be shut in the kitchen and dining room behind a baby gate which was great as they loved the river and gardens.

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage. James was on hand if needed but was not intrusive. Enclosed garden was ideal for our dog Lindy and the river was no problem as she doesn't like water. Plenty of dog friendly places and pubs in the surrounding area. Weather was a bonus which added to a very pleasant and relaxing holiday.

Great location in an idyllic village. Nice evening walks. Excellent secure garden for our retriever. Breakfasts sitting outside listening to the River Wriggle was very special. Village pub was very welcoming with excellent food. Best visits..Bridport Saturday market, Sherborne (Castle and gardens, Abbey and tea rooms!) Lulworth Cove, Lyme Regis. Beautiful peaceful location above a small river and looking across to trees and fields.... yet only 2 miles from the A37 which made it easy to get to all the good places of interest in this area. Cottage was spacious and the owner was on hand to deal with any problems.

Our second time at this lovely, cosy cottage, which we can highly recommend. Bed linen and comfort is of the best quality, and rooms are spacious. The cottage is well equipped for cooking, and provides a wealth of DVDs, books and board games. Parking is never a problem, and there's a pleasant view of the river and fields at the back.
