The tranquil countryside surroundings of this property belie the fact that it is situated just one mile from the attractive historic town of Shaftesbury. Eagle-eyed visitors will recognise the town’s steep cobbled Gold Hill as the location used in the famously nostalgic Hovis adverts, and it is this quaint feeling that gives the town its unique atmosphere. There is a good range of shops in the town, as well as a choice of cafes and pubs, alongside an interesting history museum and the ruins of Shaftesbury Abbey. Further afield but still within easy reach, other attractions in the area include Stour Head Gardens, The Fleet Air Arm Museum, Wardour Castle, used in the filming of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves to name but a few nearby attractions.
Set within a thirty-acre smallholding, this romantic log cabin makes a wonderful place to relax and get away from it all. A single step leads to the front veranda, which guests cross on their way to the front door, opening onto the enclosed porch, where there is a seating area with table and chairs. Moving through to the main living space, the lounge is a lovely homely space with two sofas, and a TV/DVD. From the lounge, a doorway leads to the spacious kitchen/diner where guests will find a dining area, as well as an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The property has one bedroom, a book-lined double room which benefits from an armchair making it a great space to relax with a book before turning in. The en-suite bathroom, meanwhile, offers a bath, hand-held shower, and WC. It is also possible to request a fold-out single bed which can be set up in the property’s porch, which has a privacy curtain separating it from the lounge this would be for a child only on request.
Outside, there is a traditional covered veranda to the front of the property with a table and chairs, which enjoys views over the enclosed lawn gardens and the Blackmore Vale Valley.
