Property code: DC007

An ideal family retreat in the tranquil village of Shipton Gorge, just right for those looking for healthy doses of discovery and luxury in equal measures.

The village is encompassed by countryside and is only 2 miles from the nearest beach, you can get out and about to explore the local area whatever the weather. Don your walking boots and uncover the surrounding walks with outstanding views or head to the nearby South West Coast Path, breathing in heady, fresh air and earning yourself a tasty reward afterwards. For great food served with unmissable views, take your pick from beachside cafes at Hive Beach in Burton Bradstock (2 miles) or West Bay, home of the TV series Broadchurch (4 miles). If you’re more of a culture vulture and fancy a taste of town vibes, travel 3 miles away to Bridport or 13.5 miles to the picture-postcard Lyme Regis, where there is plenty on offer for all generations.

Head along the pretty streamside path, past three other properties and towards the cottage. Take the pathway in the garden towards the cottage where you will cross a small gravelled courtyard and step into the hallway. Leave your shoes, coats and worries behind and make your way in. The sitting room is a lovely room, blending classic and contemporary styles, balancing traditional features with modern home-comforts. Kitted with two plump sofas and an armchair to sink into once you are ready, you can thumb through the pages of a good book or tune into your favourite series on TV (Freeview and streaming services available). In the colder months, the toasty wood burner is a welcome addition and throws an amber glow around the room. From the sitting room, two steps lead you down into the kitchen. With a dining table and access to the garden, the kitchen will be a firm favourite with all the family. Equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, coffee machine and lots of utensils, you can prepare your favourite meals. Mix up some healthy dishes while the kettle boils for another round of tea and let the sunshine flood in through the open door in summer. The three bedrooms are all on the first floor and comprise of two doubles and one single. For extra convenience, the property has two bathrooms - downstairs there is a shower room with a walk-in shower and WC, whilst upstairs the second bathroom has a bath with overhead shower and WC

The cottage enjoys an enclosed, south-facing, suntrap garden with a lawn area, lending itself to long, summer afternoons with a glass of something cool. There is private off road parking for two cars available.

A well equipped & comfortable/cozy cottage. The welcome pack was much appreciated, as were the lights that were left on as we had a late arrival! Very convenient for the local costal areas with a nice welcoming pub within walking distance! All in all - a lovely stay in nice accommodation!

A lovely cottage in a remote quiet location. No phone signal (which is great) but good wifi. The heating system needs an upgrade. Dis-appointed with the only local pub 'The New Inn' A terrible experience Avoid - poor quality food, flat beer, overpriced, no atmosphere (just us and 1 other couple, gave the under cooked burger to their dog) We would rRead moreeturn to the cottage and recommend it for the location Hide

This is a lovely, well-equipped cottage in a very quiet peaceful location but close to lots of Dorset attractions. Those with mobility or carrying problems need to note that your car is over 60 metres from the front door.
