Property code: DC140

Set on one level, this beautiful, light and inviting property enjoys magnificent sea views across the valley, making it an idyllic holiday home for a family seeking a quiet retreat in serene countryside.

Situated on a no-through lane which leads to the sea via a footpath, the cottage is wonderfully located. The tranquil coastal village of Worth Matravers enjoys a lovely spot in the heart of the Purbeck Hills. The stunning Dorset coast is just a mile away, with the coastal path leading along to Chapman’s Pool (1.5 miles), Winspit Quarry (0.5 miles) and Old Harry Rocks (7 miles). The popular seaside town of Swanage (4 miles) has a beautiful beach and a traditional promenade, or you could visit the ruins of Corfe Castle (4.5 miles) or the pretty village of Studland (6.5 miles). From Studland, you can catch a ferry to Poole or to Brownsea Island. Also nearby are Durlston Country Park (5.5 miles), Lulworth Cove (16 miles) and the Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve (6.5 miles).

On entering this fabulous detached property which is set on one level – apart from a few internal steps – you can leave coats and boots in the hall which leads through to the light and spacious lounge. The décor is an eclectic mix of old and new with a mid 20th Century vibe. With sea views, this is a lovely space to relax in and it boasts plenty of seating, a Smart TV/DVD and an open fire. The pretty dining room is an ideal space for enjoying a family meal and has feature stone walls and a picture window with beautiful views. The stylish and attractive kitchen is equipped with two ovens, dishwasher, two fridges, freezer, microwave and washing machine, and has granite worktops and a breakfast bar. A step leads down from the first lounge to the second lounge with a large bay window looking out over the garden, and an office space – ideal if you need to catch up with work – with feature stone walls. A couple of steps lead up from the office and into the hallway. Exploring the property further you will find three comfortable bedrooms. There’s a double room with a 5’ bed, TV, sea views, and a door out to the garden. This room also features an en-suite shower room (accessed via bead curtain rather than a door) with shower and WC. You will also find a further double room with an en-suite shower room with WC (glazed door) and a twin bedroom. The bathroom is complete with bath and WC.

Heading outside you can enjoy a meal, a BBQ or a morning coffee on the delightful patio which enjoys stunning views. The gentle sloping garden has trees, flowers and shrubs, while the front garden features paved terraces on several levels, accessed via steps. A large meadow garden lies beyond, with wildflowers, mown paths, trees and breathtaking scenery. Ample parking is available on the gravelled parking area.

Lovely cottage with beautiful coastal views. We stayed over Christmas and it was spacious and well equipped. Note though, that it is at the bottom of a hill so for anyone with limited mobility or pushchair users, there is quite a climb back up to the road into the village.

Perfectly located to explore the area but also a beautiful space to stay local. It offers all the expected facilities without any pretence. Highly recommended

A stunning cottage that is beautifully decorated and has really comfy furniture. One of the best moments for me, the cook, was discovering that all the chopping knives were really sharp. We had a fabulous time and felt really spoiled by the lovely home and the gorgeous surroundings.
