This quaint stone-walled period cottage with original features, is set in stunning Bothenhampton and combines old-fashioned charm with contemporary style.

Set on a raised pavement above the village lane, this terraced property simply oozes charm. The pretty little village of Bothenhampton provides an excellent setting, benefitting from local amenities including a shop and a local pub, as well as lots of rustic charm. The property is located less than a mile from the historic market town of Bridport which boasts and array of eateries, vintage shops and markets. The cottage is also only a mile from the beautiful coast at West Bay where you can peruse the working harbour, have a drink in one of the many cafes, or take a boat tour to learn more about the heritage Jurassic coastline.

This delightful cottage is entered up two steps into a hall with a beautiful flagstone floor. The open-plan kitchen/sitting/dining room is a warm and inviting space which encourages family life and social dining. All mod cons are present in the kitchen, with just a hint of the age of the property coming from the oak and flagstone floors. Also on this floor is a utility room with a door leading to the garden and, up one step, a shower room with a WC. Heading upstairs to the first floor, there are two bedrooms, one is a spacious king-size boasting a Victorian fireplace and  a Smart TV and the other is a cosy double bedroom overlooking the rear garden. Completing the first floor and up one step is a family bathroom which has a bath, handheld shower and WC. On the second floor, via a spiral staircase with open tread is the single bedroom with double-aspect windows and views of the distant hills and garden. There is reduced ceiling height in this room as it is located in the eaves of the house.

The property has a rear enclosed flagstone courtyard which is planted with scented honeysuckle and colourful ferns. From here there are 12 steps up to the charming sloping garden with its beautiful flower beds containing a rainbow of flowers to shrubbery and trees. The terrace has a lovely view of the garden with its flower filled borders. For those who love to eat alfresco, there is a charcoal BBQ available for use at the property.

The cottage was extremely comfortable, cosy and so well equipped. Tim had left the heating on for us to arrive to, and provided some treats of wine, chocolates and biscuits which were much appreciated. You leave the busy A35 and, passing through Hollow Lane, its like emerging into a different world and time. The cottage itself is well-appointed and comfortable but the bonus surprise package is the garden - at the top of the steep steps and the grassy path a picturesque and colourful place unfolds, to sit and relax with coffee and a book. Lots to Read moredo round and about and Tim, the owner is very friendly and hospitable. Would recommend it. Hide

This is a lovely cottage. Cosy, comfortable and clean, it has everything you could need. Our only issue was that my parents are now late 70's early 80's and there are several steps, but on the positive side they said it probably did them good. Parking is in the street, we always found somewhere to park. It is in a good location, easy access to BridRead moreport, West Bay and the A35 either way along the coast. We particularly like Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock, go for a walk then pop to the caf. Hide
