The seaside town of Swanage has many great attractions, including a wonderful bay backed by a golden sandy beach, a great selection of shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and pubs and amusements suitable for all ages. Spend your days exploring the Victorian Pier, or perhaps try your hand at Mackerel fishing, a fishing trip or boat tour available from the harbour. The stunning Jurassic coastline can be explored via the South West Coast Path or you can head inland to explore the many picturesque villages nearby, including Langton and Worth Matravers. A steam railway line runs from Swanage itself to the village of Corfe Castle, home to historic castle ruins that are cared for by the National Trust.

Situated in one of the oldest parts of Swanage and nestled in the centre of a small terrace, this delightful Grade II listed former quarryman's cottage dates back to 1750. Refurbished in 2019, it blends contemporary comfort with many original features, including a charming courtyard that leads to the entrance. Once inside you are met with a small, but well equipped galley kitchen, equipped with an electric range style oven and hob, accessed via a curtain is a utility area with washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and drying rack. With low doorways, compact proportions and a homely ambience, this room immediately gives you a sense of the history on offer in this beautiful property. Next door is a cosy lounge with a traditional flag stone floor and striking fireplace complete with wood burner. This room is the perfect space in which to relax after a day spent exploring as it also has a Smart TV/DVD, reliable WIFI and dining space so you can enjoy leisurely meals together. Leading on from here are a set of narrow, steep and winding cottage style stairs, which take you up to the first floor. An optional stair gate on the landing provides peace of mind for those with younger children. There are two bedrooms, one a comfortable king-size and the other a small and compact single bedroom, which share the bathroom. The bathroom is Jack and Jill style and accessed through either bedroom and has a hand-held shower over bath and WC.  There is no stand up shower as headroom is limited. Due to the age of the property there are areas of restricted head height, steep stairs, changes of level and beams throughout, which add to its character and charm, but are not suitable for those with restricted mobility, very tall guests or children under 3 years old.

Heading outside via the kitchen brings you back into the small courtyard area, which is the ideal place to bring your morning coffee and relax, whilst enjoying the distant views over the Purbeck hills. The courtyard in enclosed by a low stone wall befitting its period. To the front of the property is a roadside parking space for one car.

Lovely quaint cottage. We very much enjoyed our stay here. You do need agility to master the stairs as they are steep, especially when carrying anything. The cottage was well cared for and the owners had made many thoughtful touches; a basket of practical dog needs, a welcome basket of logs and kindling, a bottle of wine, milk in the fridge and a backpack and thermos for walkers to borrow. It is part of an 18th century building so there are small windows and low ceilings giving it great character. I had no trouble with the stairs but you do need to be sure-footed. Being 6ft, I found the low doorways troublesome. Very attractive sunny bedroom and really comfortable bed.
