The closest town is Sherborne, which is known for its long and varied history, being home to two castles and an Abbey with Saxon origins. Here you can find a good range of independent shops and eateries. Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, is 11 miles to the south and offers high street shops, two cinemas and numerous bars, cafés and restaurants. The picturesque rolling hills surrounding the village are the ideal backdrop for all manner of outdoor pursuits and also home to some unusual landmarks, including the Cerne Abbas Giant, which is well worth a visit.

From the shared courtyard a private entrance door leads into this mid-terrace, single-story property. Once walking inside, you are met with a welcoming hallway leading to the striking lounge/kitchen/diner on your right. This cleverly designed open-plan space has high ceilings, beams and a lounge area with Smart TV to watch all your favourite programmes and wood burner to relax on those cosy nights in. There is a dining table for everyone to sit down and enjoy an evening meal together or even just for a drink whilst watching the chef prepare a meal. The kitchen area has everything you need to cook up a storm with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Heading back into the hallway when heading off to bed you will find a charming dual aspect double bedroom with beams and also a contemporary shower room with shower and WC.

Doors from the lounge/kitchen/diner open onto a fantastic covered veranda with furniture and a lovely outlook over the adjacent paddock and open countryside beyond. Excellent cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Ideal for visiting Sherborne and Dorchester areas. Very friendly owner. Thank you very much for tea , jam and biscuits. Great to see the family of deer in the garden. Will definitely hope to return in near future.

Stayed in Tinker ( The Hide ) for a week in mid-September. The cottage was pretty much perfect. If there had to be a negative, it would be a lack of storage for any food stuff you may have brought with you ! It was very peaceful and just what we were looking for and we would recommend to anyone .

Quiet location. Good to have the veranda to sit under. Comfortable and suitable for my disability. I would highly recommend.

A very lovely cottage. Clean and modern with rustic touches. The field out the back was beautiful and we even saw some deer. Nice powerful shower. Owner was friendly and approachable.

It was so lovely - beautiful setting and comfortable, owner very welcoming. Property fully equipped , clean and very serene. surroundings. Perfect all round, would certainly recommend again and again. Not sure if a suggestion of games / cards may be a good idea. Other than that the only suggestion I have is to return again.

What a wonderful week I have had here. It is done to a very high standard and very clean. Everything you need from cooking utensils etc. The view at the back was stunning with fallow deer everyday. Lots of wildlife especially at dusk with bats, tawny owls and short eared owls. Cant wait to go back next year.

A Perfect Winter Retreat Lovely accommodation exactly as described. Lots of kitchen extras left on site was really helpful. Weather was not on our side but the Deers came out to say goodbye as we left. Would Definately return.

As it happened I was the sole person on site, but I loved Tinker Cottage, especially eating out on the verandah. Enjoyed visits to Shaftsbury, Sherborne, Dorchester, Minterne Gardens and the Water Gardens near Weymouth. I could easily find plenty more to do on a return visit.
