Property code: 83442

This Grade II listed chocolate box cottage has character in abundance and is ideally placed for touring, with Blandford Forum, Wimborne Minster and the coast all being within reach.

This charming and unique cobb cottage is set in the quiet village of Tarrant Monkton and is the perfect escape to the country. The beautiful Tarrant Valley forms part of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are many walking and cycling routes weaving through this picturesque landscape. There is a popular pub within the village or head to the market town of Blandford Forum, where you will find plenty of local amenities as well as a traditional brewery tap and riverside paths to explore. Why not take a trip to the coast and visit the sandy beaches of Bournemouth and Poole or travel inland to Wimborne Minster, the cathedral city of Salisbury or the New Forest National Park.

A gravel path leads to the entrance into this detached character cottage. Once inside you are met with a welcoming entrance vestibule leading into the country kitchen on your right. This well-equipped space has a Rayburn, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Next is a pretty single bedroom, with a useful separate WC next door. From the inner hallway, a door then leads into the charming lounge/diner. This striking space is home to a beautiful inglenook fireplace complete with a wood-burner and original bread ovens as well as a TV. Steps lead up from here into a cosy snug with a TV. Heading back into the hallway you will find a flight of cottage style stairs leading to the first floor. There are two inviting bedrooms here, one double and a twin as well as a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. Due to the age of the property there are changes of level and areas of restricted head height including low beams and doorways throughout, which only adds to its character and charm.

Heading outside there is a peaceful and private garden mostly laid to lawn and enclosed by hedging. You can enjoy meals and drinks at the table and chairs, whilst admiring the tranquil setting. Off road parking for one car can be found to the side of the property. There is a garage offering a further space for one car and a utility area with tumble dryer and freezer. Please note this property has a private water supply.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single (single located on ground floor)
  • 1 bathroom with bath, separate shower

  • SMEG Rayburn, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, Alexa, Nespresso coffee machine
  • Utility area freezer within the garage

  • Garden with dining table, corner sofa and 2 sun loungers
  • Off-road parking for one car and an additional space for one car within the garage
  • Strictly no BBQ’s due to the thatch roof
  • Beach 17 miles, shop 3 miles and pub within walking distance

A very nice cottage, located in a very nice village. The cottage is well equiped, spacious comfortable, and beautiful. Also has a great sunny garden, which is great to sit in and also was able to keep our dog inside.

this is a wonderful holiday home from home. The cottage is well presented, the beds and sofas are very comfortable. Overall its a great place to come back to after a day exploring. The owners are really helpful - we had a power cut in the middle of a storm and the response back was quick and super helpful. Beautiful cottage. I'd always wanted to experience staying in a thatch, so box ticked. I believe it is recently renovated and the ambiance and facilities were second to non. We don't have pets but I can imagine how welcoming it would be for any dog, although my husband Chris enjoyed sitting in the garden at dusk watching the bats flying around. What a fabulous cottage, done to a very high specification & probably the nicest one we have stayed in. The location was great, set in a lovely village with a great local pub.
